The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) estimates that nearly 2,000 RV fires occur annually. The awning should be sized properly for your RV, it should be easy to open and stow, and lastly,it should be a strong material that will last whatever the weather may bring. Preparing Your Airstream for Winter

Image
While some people use their Airstream year-round, many put it in storage for the winter months. If you’re one of the many people putting your RV in storage during the “off-season,” it’s imperative that you store it properly so it will be ready to go next season. With summer coming to an end, it’s time to start thinking about your plan for winterizing your Airstream. Here are SmartPlug’s tips to help you along the way: 1. Interior Make every effort to prevent mice and other rodents from having access to your Airstream. Inspect the underside of your RV for any gaps or holes, if any gaps are found, fill using silicone or expanding foam. Tips to Make Your Airstream Go Green

RV vacations are already more environmentally friendly than fly, drive, or hotel vacations, but there are still ways we can go green-er in Airstreams. SmartPlug is all about safe and responsible RVing, so we wanted to share our favorite tips to help you go green in your Airstream. 1. And don’t forget to recycle. If your campground doesn’t have a recycle station, designate a bin in your RV for recyclables and do a Google search for the nearest recycling center on your route. 2. Work with nature When in hot weather, use natural shade. Try using awnings and canvas covers instead of the AC when possible and keep the windows open to get a nice br
